Institutions of Islamic Law is an international peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing high-quality scholarship on the theory, governance, regulation, administration, reform, and transformation of Islamic legal institutions across diverse jurisdictions and socio-legal contexts. The journal provides an international forum for original research examining the institutions, authorities, and governance mechanisms responsible for interpreting, implementing, administering, adjudicating, and developing Islamic law in contemporary Muslim societies and beyond.
The journal welcomes doctrinal, empirical, socio-legal, comparative, historical, interdisciplinary, and policy-oriented research that contributes to a deeper understanding of the structure, functions, accountability, effectiveness, and evolution of Islamic legal institutions. Particular emphasis is placed on studies that bridge classical Islamic legal thought with contemporary institutional practice, governance, public administration, and legal reform.
